B3S Water/Wastewater
B3S Water/Wastewater – Security for Your Critical Infrastructure
Protect your systems against cyberattacks and comply with the requirements of the BSI Act – we support you in the implementation.

Key Information
The sector-specific security standard (B3S) for the water and wastewater sector specifies the requirements of the
BSI Act and the BSI Critical Infrastructure Ordinance (BSI-KritisV) for operators of critical infrastructures.
Utility companies that reach or exceed the legal thresholds are obliged to secure their IT systems, processes, and components accordingly.
Proof of implementation must be provided to the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) at least every two years.
In practice, this means that companies must protect their IT infrastructure in such a way that outages or manipulations caused by attacks are prevented.
This ensures that critical tasks such as the provision of drinking water or wastewater disposal can always be carried out reliably.
